Chance to Change

Chance to Change is a mental health peer support group covering the G13, G14 and G15 postcodes of Glasgow, which is designed to impact on the ability of participants to manage their own condition and to influence the services they need to access.

The group is led by Leanne McBride, the peer facilitator, who was one of the founding group members of the group.

"see me, listen, be honest,

 help me understand

 and remember

 I am an expert

 in your professional hands."

Members of the group have lived experience of long-term mental and physical health conditions and know first-hand what it is like to grow up in an area of extreme poverty with the associated challenges of stigma and exclusion this brings. This made

Chance 2 Change an ideal expert reference group to work together with the Scottish Government on tackling health inequalities in primary care. Together they have produced a report entitled: "A Chance to Change Scotland".

The group has also worked with Clydesider Creative to produce two short films which share their individual journeys and shows the power of peer support.

Chance 2 Change Does Digital

This short film that charts the digital journey of peer mental health support group Chance 2 Change and explores the impact of ‘digital by design’ health services on people and communities already facing health inequalities.

The pandemic magnified the need for C2C to upskill their members into the world of digital. Instead of simply running digital training workshops, the group decided to look at how their learning could influence and have an impact on both digital literacy and health inequalities in the wider communities.

The Wee Club That Changed Our Life

This video shares how the group originated from Drumchapel and became an Expert Reference group for the Scottish Government.

In this short film, we explore the key role peer support plays in empowering people to challenge and influence change in their communities and beyond, how it can tackle health inequalities, and the importance of no more us and them, just us!

A Chance to Change Scotland: Chance 2 Change Expert Reference Group with Lived Experience - report.

This report accompanies the report of the Primary Care Health Inequalities Short Life Working Group (SLWG). It provides lived experience perspectives on health inequalities and inequity, and on how primary care can address these. C2C worked alongside the SLWG as an expert reference group.
