Who is Platform for?
The Platform programme has a special focus on those facing the most barriers to inclusion, such as those with a physical disability, a mild to moderate mental health problem, a mild learning difficulty, or who simply find it difficult to engage in ordinary activities.
How does Platform work?
Getting started
To begin with Platform is about getting to know you and making sure we can provide the support you need.
Your goals
We will talk about the support you want from platform and agree a personal action plan that fits with your day to day life.
Your support
We will help you to make links with other services that can support you in different areas of your life.
Your health
Platform is about looking after yourself, about eating well, about regular exercise to suit your ability.
Your learning
The learning Platform is about building experience, knowledge and skills, which will be externally certificated wherever possible. The key activities in this element, but not exclusively, are as follows:
Hospitality
Utilising our in-house training kitchen, our participants will learn how to prepare and serve food and will achieve formal qualifications in food hygiene from the Royal Environmental Health Institute of Scotland.
Horticulture
Using the garden attached to our facility and our local allotment we will build skills in planting and growing while working towards the Royal Caledonian Horticultural Society’s Grow and Learn Awards.
Information Technology
Utilising our learning hub, we intend to offer a range of IT awards and qualifications including the International Certificate of Digital Literacy.
Literacy and numeracy
Utilising our learning hub, and building a core of expert volunteers, we will offer literacy and numeracy learning opportunities.
